WHAT IS TWO FACTOR AUTHENTICATION (2FA)

Two Factor Authentication is a process that requires two steps to complete the login process.
The first step is typically something you know like your username and password, the second is
something you have such as a text message or smartphone app notification.
It can also be a third-party device where both factors are required in order to log in. If the
the account holder doesn't have access to their phone or an approved security key for one of these
methods, they will not be able to log in.
In some cases, it may even require multiple levels of authentication before gaining entry into the
account.
In either case, this additional level of protection provides a layer of safety for individuals with
sensitive information stored on the service.
